This activity provides educational programs to both youth and adults. One of our core missions is to encourage learning opportunities and inspires those living in the region of Nkongsamba, Cameroon, especially youth, to understand and utilize the benefits of education. In this regard, we will offer English lessons to encourage youth to become bi-lingual in French and English.
We offer educational programs and activities aimed at improving the communication and technology skills of youth and adults in Nkongsamba. Currently, most students are exposed to very few technological resources and therefore typically still utilize only typewriters, paper and chalkboards during educational instruction. We believe that information, communication and technology are central to education and success, and as a result, the Foundation provides programs to both youth and adults that would teach them how to take advantage of these resources. We also provide similar communication and technology programs to further educate teachers in Nkongsamba, including programs targeted at grading students and using technology in the classroom. By providing such training, participants' teachers are empowered to provide subsequent training to their students.
International Exchange Partnership (IEP)
The IEP is intended to provide an introduction to global society, and to foster mutual understanding and appreciation. The aim is to give talented and motivated individuals the chance to have virtual and practical experiences in the United States and Cameroon.
All participants are expected to support this goal through their day to-day experiences in their respective schools, interactions and participation in their communities, host families and the presentations that they make about their home countries using information and communication technology.
The goal is to help young individuals learn to use technology to develop existing resources to become economically self-sufficient and compete in a global marketplace. By blending contemporary and past management practices, it is hoped that a hybrid model for educational improvement will emerge and be replicated in participating communities around the world to level economic playing field.
It is expected that participants have both positive and negative experiences living in the United States and Cameroon and acquire a more balanced and tempered view of the culture, of the market economy, and of how democracy and a global society works in each country.
Contribute and promote innovation of global economic, technological and cultural communication by helping partnering communities, youth and educational institutions.
Promote mutual understanding through exchange activity.
Specifically, the IEP is designed so that:
IEP participants acquire an understanding of global society and the role of information and communication technologies in the development of a global economy, including concepts such as self-sufficiency and the idea that global citizens can and do act on their own to manage and advance in their respective societies.
IEP participants show willingness and commitment to serve as ambassadors for change in their countries after they return home by utilizing information and communication technologies to further their mutual interests for self-sufficiency and economic growth.
IEP participants develop an appreciation for American and African culture
IEP participants interact with Americans and Africans to generate enduring ties.
SPORT FOR ALL
We offer sports activities for youth to encourage a stronger community within Nkongsamba and to attract youth to other programs and activities.
Many young people in Nkongsamba still remain idle. “Sport for All” program channels that time and energy away from behavior and practices that detrimentally affect their lives.
The “Sport for All” program helps improves education among young by using sport as a gateway through which young students are drawn to attend school. It emphasizes developing each individual's full potential both physically and mentally, with concepts of teamwork, sportsmanship and perseverance.
“Sport for All” goals:
To have more responsible youth who are able to make informed choices about their lives and environment.
To increase the visibility of sport’s development potential and practice among young people.
Encourage partnerships and alliances around the community.
“Sport for All” focuses on recruiting young Africans who come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and organizes a variety of sporting activities, practices and tournaments. It teaches young people to handle peer pressure. Youth also develop self-awareness and ways to appropriately behave when under pressure, when winning or when they are faced with defeat.
